Vespasien Sunstroker
(Sato Suzumebachi)
Hannish by birth, Hingan by upbringing, Hisui-no-hebi-kai by allegiance. Producer of medicine, puncher of faces, protector of serpents.
Miqo'te are not a frequent sight amidst the throngs of Hingan Hyur, Roegadyn, and Raen, and even less so one who looks like he belongs back in the deserts of Thanalan, or perhaps splayed becomingly in some lordling's bed.But there he is.The only adopted son of Hitomi Sato, Vespasien was born and raised until he was six in Radz-at-Han, at which point, his own criminal parents arrested along with all local support, their contact within the Hingan criminal enterprise Hisui-no-hebi-kai took on his upbringing. And so the little wasp became Hingan, with a name to match. Now twenty-seven, Vesp goes alternately by whichever name catches his fancy at that moment everywhere but Kugane and other regions of Hingashi, where he knows that Suzumebachi will get far more unwanted attention. A childhood prodigy of alchemy and botany, he primarily focused on making somnus for some time, but has since put that aside.Vesp, to all outward appearances, is a bright, charming young man, quick to a laugh with a deceptively rich and deep voice. Occasionally, though, a darker humour filters through, one born of a life spent learning how to do terrible things and not give a damn.He is often found in the company of his best friend since childhood and fellow pervert Morokiyo Musa.
Vespasien stands at roughly 5'8", tall for a Miqo'te, but nonetheless often not the tallest in the room by any measure. He lacks the clan markings typically found on male Miqo'te - although of late seems to be penciling them in manually - and indeed, usually seems to be smooth-complected save for the occasional light shower of stubble. He always is dressed well, if not necessarily fashionably, in a way that suits him thoroughly. While his build offers little bulk, it does not lack for power or agility, the man a surprisingly good unarmed combatant. He is usually trailed by the smell of green things growing, dirt, and the faint coppery undertone of blood here and there. When seen with his arms uncovered, black tattoos adorn them; a seafoam green serpent snakes its way up his left cheek, the sign of a member of Hisui-no-hebi-kai.

Flexible post lengths, slow typer.
Not firmly enough married to canon to mind if you are doing something outlandish.
Clumsy at combat roleplay; prefers one-on-one freeform with friends that can discuss a fight.
LGBTQA+ positive; player is under the umbrella.
Void is an adult old enough to remember cassette tapes and how his walkman would chew his up. While he has roleplayed for nearly two decades, this has mostly made him unable to justify how often he accidentally chuckles twice in one emote and his overabundance of character playlists.

Sato Hitomi
Advisor of War of Hisui-no-hebi-kai; Vespasien's adoptive mother
Fifty-twoOne of the senior advisors of Hisui-no-hebi-kai, and serving as advisor of war, Hitomi was but an assistant when she accompanied her direct superior on a business trip to Radz-at-Han at 34. It had been intended to renegotiate trade terms with a Hannish criminal syndicate, and, as she had both numerous contacts within them and had visited the region previously, she was a necessary party to bring. She had not expected, however, to have Hannish authorities raid and arrest most of those contacts, including the syndicate leaders - Basim and Aemilia Sunstroker. Nor had she expected to have their six-year-old son thrust upon her to get out of Radz-at-Han. Nor, at all, had she expected her direct superior to also be arrested. But Hitomi, never one to back down from a challenge, rose to it and returned to Hingashi with the young Miqo’te, pleading her case alongside the Oyabun in front of the Bugyo, gaining Vespasien his citizenship and giving him his Hingashi name to go alongside that his parents had given him - Suzumebachi Sato, another play on ‘wasp’. In the eighteen years since, while she has not always been a very indulgent mother, she has done the best by her son, all while ascending to one of the most powerful positions within the syndicate. And while making him work his own way up to teach him the value of it.One of the best with a katana within Hisui-no-hebi-kai, Hitomi could have pursued the path of a samurai instead. But, to their benefit and others’ woe, she stands instead as a woman to fear.

Nijo Masayuki
Oyabun of Hisui-no-hebi-kai
Sixty-sevenOnce upon many years ago, a boy was born in Daitenz, to a lone mother who would eventually find her way into Hisui-no-hebi-kai when he was in his teens. A bookish young man, Masayuki nonetheless proved himself equally capable of violence when it was needed, and fairly adept at both determining when it was genuinely needed and when the situation could be diffused. These, combined with a ruthless financial acumen and a fierce loyalty to the familial structure he found with his fellow criminals, resulted in his steady and swift climb as he got older, until he stood at the right hand of his predecessor. And then, in his mid-thirties, an illness seized and stole his predecessor from the syndicate, and all eyes looked to him.In the thirty years since, Masayuki has brokered a strong alliance with Kagayaku-taiyō-kai, strengthened Hisui-no-hebi-kai’s ties in Eorzean territories, done everything in his power to try to mitigate the damages of their unending war with Sen-mai-ha-kai, and fathered four children of his own by his late wife, another casualty of said war, two of whom have chosen to largely lead civilian lives, and none of whom desire the leadership.Well and keenly aware that he is entering his elder years, Masayuki is beginning to look towards the future of Hisui-no-hebi-kai without him at the helm.

Aemilia and Basim Sunstroker
Former leaders of Hannish criminal syndicate the Needles, formerly of the B tribe
Fifty-four and fifty-five (last seen in early 30s)Once B’asim Tia, the younger brother of the Nunh, Basim had no interest in overtaking his brother - but no interest in sitting by and letting his brother take all chance with his most desired from him. The answer was obvious: leave the tribal lands. Find their own way.So they did.B’relbhi Zhot, eldest daughter of one the previous Nunhs, the Sun who Hunts, had already made up her mind about who she was interested in any future with. It was not the one to claim the victory. And perhaps, it’s true, she gave the newfound Nunh the choice of blessing their departure or pain at spearpoint. Nonetheless, she left their territory with Basim, and never looked back, changing her name entirely in the process.Their journeys would, eventually, carry them to Radz-at-Han, where they first fell in with a group known as the Needles and, swifter than anticipated, rose through the ranks until, when they had been there for the better part of five years, the leaders were taken out in a hit and they stepped into the void left.(Rumours that they were the ones who organized the hit persist, but never have they been proven.)A year later, they would welcome their son into the world. All would, seemingly, be well for the next six years. Business would flourish. They would continue to cement the relationship between their organization and Hisui-no-hebi-kai. Aemilia would build a reputation as the true danger of the pair; ruthless in the face of any opposition and more than capable of backing it up, she would adapt her old moniker to the Steel Sun and have it echo in the underbelly of Hannish society. They would, unbeknownst to them, have a traitor in their midst, feeding the authorities as much information as they could. And thus, six years after the birth of their son, Hannish authorities would stage a raid during a business gathering with their Hingan associates, and Donini Doni would be nowhere to be found. What few of the Needles were not taken into custody died in the effort to defend the group. When the dust settled, all that was left was their son in his room, one yakuza hiding in a storage closet, and what members had not been present at the time, which was nowhere near enough to accomplish anything. While most of the Needles’ trials were open to the public, Basim and Aemilia’s were held privately; the verdict kept vague to everyone who was not present. Aemilia was released when Vesp was nearly twenty-six; Basim was released pretty much directly into the Final Days.
